I'm shamelessly stealing this from Crooked Timber—using Frappr to create a map of Pharyngula readers. It's darned cool, and useful, too. Next time I'm traveling, I'll be able to look up who's living near my destination, so I'll know who to parasitize (oops. The map looks pretty desolate right now with just myself flagged out here in Morris…now it's going to be a desert for sure).

Frappr doesn't seem to extend to New Zealand, boo-hoo. You'll just have to imagine at least one pin over Auckland.

It does, you just have to scroll over to the right. There's a couple of pin's in the country at the moment

Hmm, no near neighbours as yet. I agree with Mrs Tilton (among my closest neighbours) that 'Pharyngulidae' is a better moniker...

PS Looks like you can't edit shoutouts, just add to them - which is dumb, not least cos my attempt to edit mine has left me with two near-identical shoutouts. Duh..

Cool map, but in the deparment on close, but no cigar - when you choose Copenhagen, you get "Copenhagen, Frederiksberg Kommune, Denmark". The county municipality (Amtskommune) of Frederiksberg is not part of Copenhagen, though it is surrounded by the county municipality of Copenhagen (the reason I say county municipality is that Frederiksberg and Copenhagen both are both municipalities and counties).

In general, if someone wanted to leave one of the two out, one would choose to ignore Frederiksberg, since it's much smaller than Copenhagen, and since it lies entirely inside the outer borders of Cph.

But otherwise it's fine.

I'll repeat my prior comment on this map. It needs to use all nine digits of the area code, not just five. It pegged me in the dip in Colorado, where it meets Arizona and California, when I am *actually* halfway between there and Pheonix, AZ. Maybe Lake Havasu City is just 'odd' in that way, but still...
