Creationism, RedState style
Speaking of Republican idiocy, EvolutionBlog dissects an appalling post at RedState. It is a stunningly ahistorical, ignorant pile of nonsense, in which the writer pretentiously declares that he will start by defining the terms of the debate…and he gets them all wrong. He mangles the meaning of "Darwinism", "neo-Darwinism", and repeats the usual creationist dogma about "microevolution" and "macroevolution". It's painful to read, it's so remote from reality and the author is so palpably ignorant of biology—I'm fortunate that Jason has taken care of it.
The RedState comments are shoveling crap with great speed. For instance,
Darwin's first priority was atheism, and nothing has changed since then with his proselytes. I will flesh that out in a new diary hopefully over the week-end.
The fool has obviously not read any of the biographies of Darwin, or his brief autobiography. He wasn't an atheist, for one thing. For another, he struggled over issues of faith throughout his life.
That's the level of scholarship we can expect from RedState, I guess; yet another Republican asshole who thinks his rabid ideology is an adequate substitute for actually knowing anything.

Ugh, the writing style on that site is so self-conscious and puffed-up with intellectual vanity it is unreadable. You can always tell a moron by how hard he tries to seem intelligent.
