Furries and shapeshifters against evolution!

The Pagan Prattle excavates a real find.

Molatar Seth Pyragent is a missionary with a difference:
This site is dedicated to spreading the Gospel in the werewolf and furry communities. It is my hope that many trans-species people will accept Jesus as their Savior through this ministry.

It's weird enough that the guy thinks he's an actual dragon and offers advice on shapeshifting (warning: you'll need to get a new drivers license photo, and veterinarians are expensive), but he also dislikes evolution.

The Theory of Evolution is simply that. A theory. It has been proven to be an incorrect theory and should be thrown out, but the schools continue to teach it because despite its errors, it is the only way atheists can explain the origin of life. To give up on evolution would mean accepting that a benevolent God created everything, and that's just too much for atheists to understand.

It's hard to work up a sweat over a kid who is so confused he can't discriminate between real-life and a fantasy role playing game, but then again, maybe he is incredibly smart.

I hate FRPG's because the people who play them irritate me. Most FRPG players are little snobs that won't let truly intelligent people like myself join their games.

You will probably not be surprised to learn that he is also celibate.

I got to "It's the only way atheists can explain the origin of life" and I had to quit. This guy isn't the same fundie furry you had up a few months ago?

....I almost sprayed my coffee all over the laptop !!! Holy Mackerel (maybe he is one of those, too)

PZ, you've gone too far. The fellow is clearly mentally ill, having attempted suicide several times by his own admission. He's a sad case, not fair game to be mocked. Yes, fundy groups are fly paper for weak minds, but this man is sick, not just deluded. I expect better from you.

If I had to avoid addressing the obviously mentally ill, there is 51% of the country I'd never be able to talk about.

Well . . . there's mentally ill and there's mentally ill. This poor schlub is so far into the pathetic range that I'd prefer to pass him silently by (quietly happy that my own brains haven't been scrambled quite that much).

While we're on the suject of mental oddity, does anyone else like my choice of gravatar? She's the work of an artist named (or so he claims) Dorian Cleavenger (see more of his stuff at http://www.dorianart.com).

She's rather naughty, and must be pushing the edge of gravatar.com's rating system -- it must help to have those pixels reduced to a pale fleshtone smear.

No doubt.

She got an R rating, I'm proud to say.

From http://www.molatar.com/Christian.htm:

Q: Why did God tell the Jews to slaughter all those tribes in the land of Canaan? Doesn't that make Yahweh a bloodthirsty deity?
A: No, that doesn't make God a bloodthirsty deity. The tribes you speak of - the Amorites, Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, joined with the Amelekites and Moabites - were evil societies. Not only did they refuse to worship God, they also practiced sorcery and human sacrifice.

And God had evidence they arranged to purchase large quantities of yellowcake from Niger.

Ever on the look-out for nutjobs, PZ Myers finds a real doozy this time. In a nutshell, a guy who believes himself to be a shapeshifter capable of turning into a dragon is proselytizing for Christianity. In fact, he claims...

At least he's celibate. Can you imagine the children?

#9474: — 11/21  at  04:49 PM
Cleavenger strikes me as a misogynistic or S&M-oriented Frank Frazetta emulator. But I don't know much about fantasy art.

#9477: — 11/21  at  06:45 PM
Y'think that he can supply the Bible verses that say Jaysus came to save werewolves, too? And that dragon I remember from the Bible was on the Other Side....

This guy is an abomination to humanity, but I've seen worse, especially coming from the furry community, there is some scary stuff in there.

This nut is either one of those ignorami who don't know anything about things they say they know, or simply has some sort of mental illness. Or it is a combination of both cases. I think I'll go with the last option.

And God had evidence they arranged to purchase large quantities of yellowcake from Niger.

He also found a shipment of aluminum tubes.

Pornography is partly to blame for the rise in homosexual behavior, for it portrays homosexual acts as highly intriguing and energized. Even watching hardcore heterosexual pornography can desensitize a man or woman to the natural animosity between members of the same sex. Some men, after watching numerous scenes of other men having sex with women can develop a taste for their own sex. Pornographers now regularly put lesbian scenes in all their movies, claiming that it is more fun to watch than hetero action (yeah, right, its boring as hell to watch). Myriads of people watch these movies - people in powerful positions - and they are brainwashed into enjoying gay sex portrayed on television. No wonder we have so much 'progress' in gay rights - the judges and politicians are probably gay themselves and want to enjoy their sinful pleasures without feeling guilty.

Jeeeeeesus Christ...

In regards to his mental health status.. can that always be used as a justification to ignore these sorts of things?

I mean, let's say it turns out Hovind has been mentally ill all along, and has some sort of pathological lying disorder, or some such..

Would it be wrong to continue to point out his inanities then? I mean, how far could an individual push the "I'm sick, so you can't mock my rantings" boundary?

#9502: — 11/22  at  09:54 AM
No, he really does appear to have a mental disease:

http://www.molatar.com/StPD.htm

Very sad and made me completely lose heart for making fun of him.

#9513: Morat — 11/22  at  12:51 PM
Dammit. I LIKE WEREWOLF. Why do people like that have to ruin my games?

A: No, but we wish we did. Psychological lycanthropes 'change' mentally. "

Am too.

Read his Magick and Satanism page. I'm sorry, but if magic was real, magicians would rule the world. It's really sad. You hate to see someone fall that far. His forum rules are about the saddest thing I've ever read. Ignorance will continue to hold this world until some group of people rises up to make a difference.

The best part of that site has to be "In fact, getting Born Again is a wonderful experience and worth the miniscule intellectual effort."

Um, yeah. What he said. :-D

A response to Steve:

I think Cleavenger is more talented than Frazetta.

Is Cleavenger S & M? Definitely.

Is he misogynistic? (A pretty inflammatory appellation, btw.) Much harder to say. You could infer with at least as much plausibility, I think, from much of his preoccupation with the female form, that he LOVES women. Of course, misogyny and love for women can coexist pretty easily within the same person. I am an agnostic on this one.
