Honestly, Ted Rall doesn't know me

Even if evolgen has found this familiar sentiment in a cartoon:

What's so disgusting about millipedes?

In the same vein, Chris Clarke (who must be one of those closet cephalopod porn afficionados*) sent along this link to some pretty ceramics work.

*You might as well 'fess up. Everyone who reads this weblog is probably one of them, too.

PZ: you can't really be obsessed with cephalopods if you are working at UMM. It could be the place where Odysseus was finally asked if the oar over his shoulder was a winnowing fan.

Actually, some of us just humor your obsession with cephalopds because everything else here is so good. I have no doubt that your are right about CC though.

While at GSA (Geological Society of America) a week ago I noticed a meeting of the "Friends of the Cephalopods" scheduled. Granted that they're mostly interested in lithified ones, but it did seem right up your alley, PZ...

I beg your pardon? "Closet"?

I'll have you know I dragged a whole bunch of friends to the Masami Teraoka exhibit at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco a while back.

Followup: after posting the above, I told Becky "Well, I've been accused of being a closet cepahlopod porn freak."

Her response, in toto: "Closet?"

"Everyone who reads this weblog is probably one of them, too."

Well, you don't know me. grin

Or is it that _I_ don't know me? Oh dear, I think PZ tangled me in some squiddly logic here.

Millipedes freak me out. Seriously. Also slugs. I know it's not logical, but it happens.

I think the second frame you put up is supposed to be Herzog commenting. I thought you were more like the character in the film who only wants to vacation with the tentacled sea creatures.

Oh, PZ - saw a couple of really beautiful octopussies when diving in the Red Sea a couple of weeks ago. I thouht of you...

It's obvious why millipedes are disgusting -- they have too many limbs, just as humans and pigs have freakishly few. The squids have 10 limbs, the perfect number -- we all know this; our numbering system, metric system, etc. acknowledge the supremacy of squids.
