It's summer! Tests shouldn't be allowed!

This is a brutal meme…one that requires you to take tests. It's also supposed to be spread around by naming a few others. My low friendliness and altruism scores said yes, yes, make the other bastards suffer, but my high sympathy and morality scores won out, so I'll not inflict this on anyone else.

My personality and political compass scores are hidden below the fold. Can I do extra credit to get some of those low scores up?

Overview: This post is a community experiment with two broad purposes. The first is to create publicly accessible data about bloggers' personalities, which may have sociological value in addition to being just plain fun. The second is to track the propagation of this meme through blogspace. Full details and explanation can be found on the original posting: http://pixnaps.blogspot.com/2005/06/meme-worth-spreading.html

Instructions (to join in the experiment):

1) Take the IPIP-NEO personality test and the Political Compass quiz, if you have not done so already.

2) Copy to the clipboard that section of this post that is between the double lines, and paste it into your blog editor. (Blogger users may wish to use 'compose' mode to preserve formatting and hyperlinks. Otherwise, be sure to add hyperlinks as necessary.)

3) Replace the answers in the "survey" section below with your own.

4) Add your blog information to the "track list", in the form: "Linked title - URL - optional GUID".

5) Any additional comments should go outside of the double lines, including the (optional) nomination of bloggers you wish to pass this experimental meme on to.

6) Post it to your blog!

Poltiical Compass is totally wrong. I accepted and did TWO book memes, but I will not do this one.

Only a facist would call someone a Nazi like that.

Coturnix, you have a typo in that linked essay. You refer to people like me as "virulent wacko-environmentalists." Clearly, that should instead read "virile wacko-environmentalists."

Communists.

(-5.38, -8.82). I tried to get below -9, but to no avail - I just can't honestly strongly agree that there are no savage and civilized people or strongly disagree that some criminals can't be rehabilitated.

Most of it sounds right, but for the life of me I can't figure out how I got 66 in openness to experience (I'm closer to 20, I think).

I only got average for imagination. Maybe quitting my job to write science fiction wasn't such a good idea.

Thanks P.Z.!

Coturnix, you needn't worry about the Political Compass aspect if you don't want -- the main point of it is the personality test, I just thought it'd be interesting to check for correlations with political positions. But, as mentioned on the main post, you may choose to skip the PC test and just give a general gist answer to the political questions, e.g. economic "left" and socially "libertarian", or however you see yourself on those scales (which, granted, are far from perfect).

#30400: kstrna — 06/30  at  07:30 AM
Left/Rigt I am a -8.0 and on the Libertarian/Authoritarian scale, I am a -8.46.

Summer is too hot for anal-retentiveness. Thanks anyway!

We all scream for blog memes! Full details can be found here. Some explanation and my results are below the fold....

What I'D like to see is correlation between political compass and occupation. I strongly suspect that scientists are overwhelmingly left/libertarian, but it'd be nice to get some confirmation.

Well, Sean, you are too authoritarian for my tastes, that's for sure, but don't feel bad about having the highest composite score so far.

You might want to watch what you say. I've sent men to the gulags for less, tovarisch.

i also got 95 for neuroticism on the ipip-neo. on the other hand, most of the items relate to self-perceptions, like item 91, "get stressed out easily". so maybe i have a 95% chance that i think i'm neurotic.

in other news, sun rises in east.
