Want one? Heck, I've just ordered one.

It took a second, and then I burst into laughter. I love it.

Personally, I prefer the Darwin fish. It subverts the icon enough for me.

I'm surprised you didn't go for the Cthulhu fish, what with the tentacles and all.

Oh, the spam/word is "dinosaur." How cool is that?

I believe I was the first person to have this one, because I wrote in to ROF and requested one after reading this article, before it went on sale. Check out the original 12" prototype....

Off topic but... The Poor Man envisions a future SAT Exam (brought to you by Fox News of course). A sample question:

3. Scientific theories are:
A. ones which makes predictions one can test against experimental data
B. only theories
C. used by out-of-the-mainstream liberal eggheads to oppress white people
D. tricks of Satan

the rest here (they're all good):

Seriously, I wrote this post before I read your comment, Scott.

I especially like the last quote in the article Michael S. linked to.

"I do not think we should antagonize the religious when it is not warranted, though I think we should be willing to do so whenever it is.”

I have a sudden idea, inspired by Rana's coincidental "Dinosaur" spam word. What if, as a way to deter spammers AND ignorant creationists, you had a short quiz that had to be answered before posting, based on the content of the article? Granted, it wouldn't stop the more determined creationists... and I guess those less determined wouldn't even bother posting... bah. There goes that idea.

I thought that Jack Horner proved that t-rex couldn't eat a fish because his arms were too short. Plus, it would have to be a dead fish. I guess the half-chomped fish is dead...

#24379: Michael Sprague — 05/08  at  09:53 PM
It's hard to see in the photo but the fish's eyes are "x"s, so yes, it's dead.

#24385: — 05/09  at  03:32 AM
You don't understand! This is a representation of T-Rex enjoying a hearty fish meal he scooped up from the waters while standing on the deck of Noah's ark! Indeed, eating the flesh of the Christian symbol is a form of dinosaur communion. "Take this flesh for it is my flesh..." and so on. When you try to subvert the meaning of the Dinosaur Communion Symbol it is obvious that science and rationallity have nothing more to contribute to society, and will soon be confined to the dust bin of history, along with math.

#24422: — 05/09  at  02:05 PM
Yeah, the sooner we get math into the dustbin of history, the happier my students will be. Can we get it done before finals begin next week?

#24429: — 05/09  at  02:33 PM
You Yankees just don't appreciate the luxury of having blue neighbors.

Down here in the red states, you better wait until you can get a surplus fully-armored humvee before you tack that sort of decal on it...

Saw this over at PZ's blog as well: It'll set you back about $8 from the folks at Ring of Fire Enterprises. Of course, depending on where you live, it could end up costing a bit more if some religious nutjob takes a baseball bat to your car over it. Still, I want one.

I predict that if I show this to Sylvia, her immediate reaction will be something about it having the wrong number of fingers...

See, I think the T-Rex is cool and all, but this one better suits my subtle tastes:

I'm not happy about converting these religious symbols to promote science. Now I have to squint harder to make out the T-rex eating the Truth that's eating Darwin that's humping the Jesus fish. This silly back-and-forth is all we have to look forward to in lieu of actual debate; badges of superiority and intolerance, signifying nil.

No, I'm not Christian -- in fact, I take issue with dominionists/dispensationalists. And yes, evolution science is a tool for understanding the natural world, it's not a belief system -- but it can stand some refining. Read SJ Gould for a fresh perspective on how PEOPLE tend to get science wrong when they belive in their infallible, empirical "powers". It might lead you to discover what's at the heart of everyone's liberal/conservative struggle -- the suppression of humility.
