Oh, what a wicked world
I've got a request for more information on adaptations and species that call into question the existence of a benign creator—you know, a big guy in the sky who loves everything and wants them to be kind and who wants people to only have sex in the missionary position, and only for procreation. I suggested two books, Zimmer's Parasite Rex : Inside the Bizarre World of Nature's Most Dangerous Creatures (amzn/b&n/abe/pwll) to show that some organisms are just plain ugly and evil (except to each other, of course: there's no creature so odious that its mother can't find something to love in it, I guess), and Judson's Dr. Tatiana's Sex Advice to All Creation: The Definitive Guide to the Evolutionary Biology of Sex (amzn/b&n/abe/pwll) to show that this putative god would have to have had a deeply kinky streak.
I know there were some websites that had whole collections of maleficent creatures, but I couldn't come up with them in 30 seconds…so I turn the problem over to the collective wisdom of my readers who will probably revel in enumerating all the barbed and fanged and vicious and disgusting beasties of the world, and their freaky reproductive practices.

Some of DarkSyde's Science Friday posts over at UTI definitely fit the bill, unless 6'-long centipedes aren't downright scary.
