Scientists and Engineers for Change
There's a new independent group hitting the campaign trail, working to get people to vote for someone who'll actually do some good for science rather than subverting it to the whims of a gang of ignorant ideologues. It's called Scientists and Engineers for Change, and Chris Mooney has a thorough write-up on their goals. It sounds like they aren't an intrinsically pro-Kerry group, but are just a group of politically diverse sci-tech people who have gotten so disgusted with the incompetence of the Bush administration that they're out campaigning for the rational alternative.
They have a few pages documenting Bush's corruption of science: The Bush Record on Science: Simply a Disaster and Restoring Integrity to Science Policy. Scientists are saying Bush is bad for science...but I imagine there will be some flaky right-wing ideologue out there who will try to tell us that Bush is doing wonderful things for scientists.

I wonder if the Discovery Institute, with its bottomless pockets and lack of integrity, will attempt to start a scientists for Bush? I mean, they have a anti-stem cell research wing and a 'Science' and Culture wing, surely they could get out some of their 'scientists' to stump for Bush?
I hope I'm not giving them ideas.
PS - In case anyone can't get enough of Discovery's Center for 'Science' and Culture, you can join the.... Discovery Society!
