They're taking over!

Now we have a Carnival of Feminists, and Pandagon takes a further tilt towards the feminine (nice sign, too!).

I, for one, welcome our new homogametic overlords. I plan on putting on a loin cloth and peeling some grapes in preparation.

Wow, that's cool (not you in a loin cloth, but the carnival). I wonder how long it will take the Neanderthals to make a Carnival of Male Chauvinists, I mean Anti-Feminists, sorry Fathers' Rights

I think it's Men's Rights nowadays...

By the way, read Feministe's post eviscerating an article imploring women to have the level of individuality and empowerment they had 3,000 years ago.

As a trusted blogger/academic, you can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves.

Well, the chauvinists have several carnivals already, but we on the Left tend not to read them...

Just curious --- for no reason really --- asking for others --- but do you plan on posting a picture of yourself in this loin cloth?

Go straight for the mother lode:
Carnival of the Carnies

Hmmm... Looks like this Christian lady thinks that after my sex change operation God will want me to move in with my parents and get my dad to support me. That'll be interesting.

"... but do you plan on posting a picture of yourself in this loin cloth?"

Nielsen would approve, I bet.

No photos, sorry. I wouldn't want my readership to run away, screaming and blind.

But it's fine to threaten blogging feminists with same?

Pig.

Actually, I like seeing my .sig under that last gratuitous insult.

I just figured the feminists might enjoy making a pig like me grovel.

(I know, I'm playing up wicked stereotypes. Forgive me.)

Thanks for putting up that link, PZ!! This is the bestest. Carnival. Evah!

Though, um, I could've gone on happily without the mental picture of my favorite biologist in a loincloth.

Erm, I love a man in a loincloth, but I think your decision to not post pictures of you in a loincloth is a good one. I love you for your sexy mind, not your body!

#44899: — 10/20  at  09:12 PM
Sexy mind!

Have you ever even SEEN a brain?

#44900: beche-la-mer — 10/20  at  09:58 PM
Surely you mean "overwimmin", not "overlords"?

And I prefer red seedless grapes, please.

#44911: Alon Levy — 10/21  at  04:59 AM
Oh yeah, the "womyn"/"wimmin" joke... the word "man" used to refer to both genders equally, with the gender specific words being wer for a male and wif for a female. Woman is a contraction of wif-man. If you're so keen on gender-neutral language, make man gender-neutral again and call a male person a wereman. That way you'll also be able to keep the numerous expressions in the English language involving the word man without having to resort to constructions such as "enlisted people."

#44914: — 10/21  at  05:31 AM
Or you could just design a new gender-neutral word.... wait, that would be person, wouldn't it? The concept of refering to millenia old meanings of words is only relevant when speaking of texts and expressions from back then.

#45024: Alon Levy — 10/22  at  09:25 AM
Yeah, that would be person, but it's a syllable longer than man, and English has too many expressions using the word man in a sense that would now be gender-neutral, such as enlisted man and good man (which doesn't mean exactly the same thing as good person). While there are also gender-specific expressions using the word, such as manly, these often convey connotations that are downright sexist, so requiring people to switch to werely or even virile might change these connotations.
