Why didn't anyone tell me it's Lurker Day?

Chris Clarke started it. Lauren gave the bandwagon a push. I guess I'll hop on and go for a ride.

If you're a lurker who's been reading and never commenting, go ahead and say "Hiya!" in the comments here. Or tell me I suck, or something. Tell me what I'm supposed to write, or not write. Tell me who you are.

I'm a computer science graduate student studying evolutionary computation and biologically inspired cognitive architectures at the Adaptive Systems Laboratory affiliated with the Krasnow Institute.

Hi Professor.
I lurk here mostly for stuff like bicoid evolution< /a>. I am a Christian, however - as a French-Scot hybrid and ahuge fan of the Enlightenment - I love your evangelical smackdowns like <a href="http://pharyngula.org/index/weblog/comments/jesus_christ/">Jesus Christ.

I'm a lurker, found your blog from the evolutionblog. I'm a skeptic / agnostic / humanist and i'm sick of the right wing christian conservative trend in this country. I'd say i'm a big fan of this blog and others like it (panda's thumb, evolutionblog, etc).

Keep up the good work!

Hi, PZ, you cranky guy, you! I love Pharyngula and lurk daily. I am an English Education Professor (oh no, humanities and derivative Education discipline in the same person!) with a young son who is science mad.

I love your skepticism and your cranky vibe. Never change!

Maybe not much point in adding another lurker comment (I didn't read the other 11 pages) but I hope you keep up the good work and our free education! I'm a new CS grad student in Portland, OR (and thanks to talk.origins, an ex-creationist) grin

I'm another lurker who loves what you do!

Another lurker saying a belated hi. I don't comment much as my knowledge isn't up to any useful standard, but very much enjoy the posts here. ID and creationism are slowly making their way into the UK, and I'm trying to fight it grin

Native Minnesotan, physics graduate student working on my PhD in Switzerland. I've enjoyed the site (especially when you caught Powerline slouching toward creationism), but my interest in cephalopods is mainly limited to eating them.

Hiya,

I'm a lurker from germany. Found your blog through Socar Myles (and PhaWrongula) and immediately liked the style, humor and subject. I enjoy all of your posts and think you struck a nice balance between science, ID-demolition and personal stuff. Keep up the good work.

Hiya! Have you noticed how people can claim to be empathetic with those who suffer and at the same time disparage them for "letting" themselves become so helpless (example: The people who refuse to evacuate then need to be rescued, cry about how the government/city/community/world has failed them and impatiently wait for ammends with hand held out and it better be cash/check/and/or credit card dammit). By the way, I have very little empathy for those who rely on others when they are capable of relying on themselves.

Ya - I'm a lurker. I read your blog just about every day. I like your sense of humor backed up by the knowledge of science. Thanks for the posts !

Yet another lurker standing up to be counted. I'm a twenty-something translator of corporate documents and student of medieval Japanese literature. Despite my decidedly non-scientific field of specialization, I am enraged by the deliberate perversion of science for political purposes and general scientific illiteracy so common in this country. I just wanted to say "thank you" for this witty and informative weblog which, I think, is a marvelous torch of reason in a generally benighted world.

Hi,
What's up, doc? Long time lurker here (well over a year), and I suppose I must have commented at some point, considering the site remembers my info. I'm a *ahem* non-traditional (by a couple years, but still...) physics undergrad out near San Francisco. I suppose if I had to pigeonhole myself religiously and politically, I'd be a naturalist atheist with a libertarian-socialist bent, and I've grown increasingly angered by both the fundamentalist takeover of this country and the politicization of science. Anyway, just wanted to say I love your writing -- whether it's actual biology, creationist-bashing, fundamentalist-mocking, politics, or squid sex -- and keep up the good work.

I took your genetics class last Spring. I think I found your website through Biological Principles back in freshman year. You have a link on my website, for all the good that it [won't] do you. smile

Great site! I really enjoy your science articles and, here is your success, so do my kids (10 and 12 years of age), even if they don't understand the science. They find it engaging. Congrats to you on that!

I also enjoy your pieces on 'creationism' and/or I.D. Thankfully, till now anyway, we don't have that silliness to dismiss up here in Canada. Anyway, keep up the good fight.

I love this blog!
Despite claiming a BA in English, I still find your bilogy articles fascinating. I was shown this site by a friend, and I love the variety of entries you create.
You are deserving of all our praise and more.
Keep up the great work.

EVER WONDER IF WORDS AND PICTURES MEAN ANYTHING.

TO THE AVERAGE INDIVIDUAL WE SAY OK, I KNOW THEY MEAN SOMETHING BUT WHAT ELSE.

IF YOU ARE HYPNOTIZED BY STRESS THEN WORDS ARE A SOURCE OF YOUR HYPNOTIC SYMPTOMS, THE STRESS IS FROM THE REPEATED PATTERNS,

HAVE YOU SPOKE IN YOUR MIND THAT THIS IS SOMETHING YOU HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT, THEY WHAM YOU ASK A QUETION, OR MAKE A WEIRD STATEMENT UNDER CUTTING YOUR OPINION OF ANOTHER IS A WAY TO SEE YOU ARE IN CONFLICT, NOW STOP,

IF YOU ARE IN CONFLICT WITH YOURSELF, LOOK AT THAT IT IS BECAUSE YOU ARE MOSTLY IMBALANCED, AND CHOSE NOT TO SEE, THE LAX ATTITUDE OF NOT NOTICING, OR EXCUSING OFF THE FACT THAT YOU STRIVE ON STRESS IN PRODUCTION IN EXCRETING IT AND SECRETING IT, THIS IS A VERY VOLATILE CONDITION. TIME TO WAKE UP TO THE MESS YOUR YOURSELF HAVE CREATED. THE WAIT AND SEE, IS COMING, YOU ARE IN NEED OF REPENTANCE.

SEE IT FOR WHAT IT IS , DON’T OVERLOOK THIS , IT IS YOUR PROBLEM , AND YOU ARE NOT ALL RESPONSIBLE
BUT YOUR PROBLEM, CAN BE HEALED AND TAKEN CARE OF IN THE MOMENT, YOUR SEE AND WRITE THIS PROBLEM DOWN AND FORGET THIS AND REMEMBER IT NO MORE, I GIVE YOU THIS COMMAND, OF THE VERY LAWS OF PHYSICAL PROBLEMS, ARE ALL IN YOUR HEAD. I KNOW THAT IS THE TRUTH AND SHALL FOCUS KNOWING THAT I CAN STOP REPEATING THIS NOTE, IT IS MOSTLY MY OWN DOING OF REPEATED PATTERNS THAT SHAPE MY CURRENT CIRCUITS OF CREEDS AND BELIEFS.
