An article that actually claims that evolution is dangerous, because it "destroys the Constitution" by making humans into animals, and therefore giving animals rights. Or something. It made my head hurt.

I have been faithfully voting for the general all along and have been trashing that moronic "Dilbert" site. Who did Scott pay to get him listed as a "humor" site? Or is IDiot blatherings the new funnies, just like it worked out for Kansas.

#53818: MBains — 12/15  at  01:51 PM
Actually, his ignorance on the IDist "debate" would be kinda funny if people reading it weren't just as ignorant. {sigh}

At any rate, I wanted to say "Thanks!" for the red-eyed-squid-kid pic. Nice wallpaper that.

I had to comment here cuz my company's firewall won't let me load the comments page of that post due to "sexual content". {bigSIGH}

Me thinks you doth protest too much. You know there are other things on his blog? Not just ID stuff? But.. you ONLY read the ID stuff..?!! You must be a crafty closet creationist. You sure had me fooled.

#53821: — 12/15  at  02:35 PM
Even though I think Fafblog! is the funniest blog, as a single issue voter who wants to see creationism in all its guises stomped on and stamped out, I voted for Jesus' General as any proudly heterosexual American (I ask you, is there any other?) should do. Besides, it's a manly 11 on the 1-10 scale of gender, while Adams' puny blog is a pathetic minus 3.

#53824: Lemony — 12/15  at  03:05 PM
I was all poised to vote for the General but hadn't realised Achewood was on the ballot... I feel i've let the sidde down

NatureSelectedMe,
Not sure what you're driving at, but I went through several posts at his site and found whatever they think is humor to be pretty lame. If I have to search throughout a site labeled as "humor" to find anything remotely like humor, it sure as shit isn't going to get my "best humor blog" vote.

You know, if I was anti-science bigot wanting to smear scientists, I would focus on this sort of stuff and the Ivory Billed Woodpecker Scam instead of on "gaps" in evolutionary biology.

Of course, the fact that most scientists (even woodpecker-hugging ornithologists) eventually do face the facts and own up to the truth presents some obstacles ...

Apparently stupidity is contagious. The Education Oversight Committee in South Carolina just voted to weaken science standards. A proponent of teaching various theories of human origin, which include creationism, gained support Monday from the state’s public school reform oversight panel....

Well, THAT would be a stupid oversight, wouldn't it?

Oh, yeah . . . um, now that you mention it, I do see the name of the committee . . .

A clever ruse. PZ frames it so that a vote for Dilbert is a vote against Jesus, so all those Disco Boys referred here to be offended by the Passion of Benny Hill will be compelled to outvote Wally World's Incompetent Design.

To each his own. I know of funnier sites myself. Sites you probably wouldn't find funny. IMO, humor relies on an underlying point of view that has to be accepted as true. If it's not, then we don't find it funny and even consider it lame. I thought his post about the deviated septum and Interrogation Techniques (in archives) was funny.

This humble web-based writing form has been nominated for "Best Blog (non-sponsored)" and "Best Writing" - and yours truly as Best Commenter - in the 2005 Koufax Awards. In each category, there are many nominees I'd vote for instead of...

What ivory-billed woodpecker scam?

#53851: — 12/15  at  07:14 PM
You give me $20. I'll give you an ivory-billed woodpecker. Next Tuesday. Honest.

How on Earth did Dilbert manage to get a couple of thousand votes in just a few hours to beat Jesus' General! What a scam!

#53865: — 12/16  at  03:47 AM
"The total votes for Dilbert have been reduced by 9615 votes for for excessive voting from two IP address."

The check's in the mail, Ginger.
Sites funnier than Dilbert? As Neo said, when Morpheus asked "Smith? Now there's more than one of him?"-

"A lot more".

#53868: — 12/16  at  05:49 AM
lol, who would have guessed that it would be a couple of Scott Adams fans who'd cheat like little bitches to make him win?

#53891: Kagehi — 12/16  at  01:00 PM
Apparently, misidentifying something as extinct is a "scam" in Great White Blunders world. Guess the discovery of that prehistoric fish way back when was a "scam" too... lol Scams are supposed to bring people a *profit*, *recognition* or both. Declaring that you can't find X in a 10,000 mile radius of where it **used** to be common, so it looks like it went extinct, then finding that they just moved some place else, isn't a scam, since the only thing it does is embarass to people that made the original determination. If you mean claims of finding them at all... Then lets see the evidence you have that they faked the photos and didn't find them. As for the cloning BS. How about you point out to me *any* field secular or otherwise, that doesn't have a small number of idiots in it, then explain to me why I shouldn't arbitrarilly pick one of those you are also a member of and declare you to be a liar and fraud, based on the few members of your group that are. No? Why not? Its at least as valid as what your trying to do.

Perhaps you should read the first few words of GWW's post. "IF I were an anti-science bigot." He's not advocating bigotry against any discipline, merely suggesting that lest we want to give the actual bigots ammunition, we should stay away from breaching scientific ethics.

That being said, I'm still interested in information on the supposed IBW scam.

Oh, and Ginger, they better not be any of those zirconia-billed woodpeckers, I already got three a' them.
