One more thing to ask her

It may be a small thing on the grand scale of the usual incompetence and cronyism in this administration, but I'd really like to know Harriet Miers' views on evolution and science.

Lippard may be jumping to conclusions. The link he refers to appears to be an advertisement, not necessarily an endorsement. Also her views cannot be assumed to be in lock-step with the church, we just don't know at this point. It would be nice to know her views on the subject, I do like my supreme court justices to be rational!

I don't think any conclusions have been leapt to just yet -- it's something to ask.

Of course, even if she endorses good science unreservedly, I still don't think she's qualified to be on the supreme court.

She endorses George W. Bush as "the most brilliant man she's ever met." Says it all in my book.

Like the casting couch careerist she us she believes whatever the Executive Producer does.

Bush knows what she thinks about teaching evolution, and that's all the rest of us need to know. He trusts her. And Dobson trusts Bush. And so should we.

Even if Lott says, "Trust but verify" really what he means is shut up. Or as Bill O'Reilly would put it, "SHUT UP ! SHUT UP!"

C'mon, guys, as Letterman said last night, Bush chose Miers because when he went looking for a nominee, she was the best qualified person he could find within 25 feet of the Oval Office. What more could you ask?

I'm actually relieved he chose Meirs. If they'd come to visit, he might have found Karl Rove or Pat Robertson within shouting distance of the OO.

She is Evangelical Christian. I was raised in this group and I never met ONE of these folks that was not YEC. Plus what shx.ohfu said....if she is appointed, we're screwed.

Can anyone name an Evangelical Christian who is NOT a crackpot?--NO!

From 'supreme' to 'rational' to 'crackpot' - expectations lowered, I see. Is that 'the Bush effect'? wink

We could all send emails to the Senators on the Judicial Commitee requesting that they ask her opinions on Evolution, Science, Seperation of Church and State, etc.

Senator's Contact Information

Be sure to include your name/address in the email to show the Senator that you are a real person.

Check out ThinkProgess blog about her church website change. There is your answer.

King Spirula: ThinkProgress was looking at the wrong Valley View church. My blog links to the right one.

darthWilliam: I am inferring that a church that runs ads for Carl Baugh (one of the sleaziest of young-earth creationists) is supportive of young-earth creationism. I don't see that as a big leap. Their site says "this is not an endorsement, just some sites we enjoy," but since they've not included any sarcastic commentary, I take it their enjoyment comes from thinking Baugh is doing the Lord's work.

Can anyone name an Evangelical Christian who is NOT a crackpot?
Possibly - if you accept people's self-determination on whether or not they are evangelical Christians and you allow non-US (ie UK) candidates and you don't include minor eccentricities in "crackpot" (ie you mean YEC or similar level of reality denial by that).
