I am so glad I don't live in Florida
Go read DarkSyd's account of his miserable weekend with a foul-tempered lady. Let's all hope Ivan doesn't try to do a follow-up.
Giblets also has an interesting perspective on Florida's recent sojourn in the news.

I am so glad I don’t live in Florida
Heh. Well, it's nice here in the winter of course. The thing is though, you're right. There are too many people living here. The population is too high, I think, considering what could happen, and much of the population is elderly people in manufactured homes.
In 1935, on Labor Day Weekend in fact, a category 5 hurricane with winds of over 200 MPH cruised the length of the state. Over 400 people died and thousands were injured. Using a similar ratio of dead and wounded to the states current population, such an event would result in several thousand deaths and tens of thousands of serious injuries. So, it would be worse than 9-11; casulty wise. I see no sign of people not moving in here though, the real estate market is still raging (Although that may be nearing an end with interest rate increases and hurricanes on the 6 O'clock news). - Well, I'm glad I live in Erie, PA. All we have to worry about is the 150 inches of snow every year.

Speaking of Ivan, check this out. That’s a cat 4 storm going right through Miami and cleaving the state from bottom to top. I wish there was a way I could short sell real estate …

- I'm waiting for Falwell to announce that all of this is God sending a message to Florida voters.

At a gathering of Republican Supporters this morning, Vice-President Dick Cheney casually remarked "Florida voters should carefully consider which candidate they select on Election Day, and make sure they choose the right one. A vote for the wrong candidate could well result in Floridians getting hit by another hurricane".
