Preaching to the converted

I'm going to be at the Roseville Public Library (2180 Hamline Ave. N, Roseville MN) this afternoon from 1-3, talking to a gang of the godless about the conflict between science and religion, the evolution of chromosome structure, and the vacuity of Intelligent Design creationism. If you want to show up, it's free and open to the public, and atheists are a very tolerant bunch—you don't have to be a heathen to attend. Rumor has it that a Power Liberal or two might be there, and it's on the radar screen of a certain Norwegian, who, I note, doesn't promise to show up. Maybe he'll surprise us. It's also been mentioned in the City Pages, so maybe we'll get a good diverse crowd.

I know you all worry about me when I drive off to distant places—lately, disaster seems to hound me on my road trips—so I thought I'd mention that yes, we survived the drive to Minneapolis and are home safely. The talk went reasonably well, I think. Kele has a review (but didn't introduce himself while I was there! I really don't bite, I promise), and we failed to convert Robin…not that we tried, mind you.

  5. It was a great talk and I'm sorry I missed as much of it as I did. It's nice to know that the serious proof is on our side, although I hear there's a museum in Oklahoma with some pretty convincing exhibits of man and dinosaur living side by side in perfect harmony. That must have been a magical time indeed.

  6. Mrs. Wanderer and I attended. What a wonderful talk! The biology was so interesting that when ID was brought up even in the context of the presentation it was a disappointing distraction from the science. Thanks for making the trip to Roseville!

  8. Yeah, I enjoyed it a lot. Gave some nice review of some biology since I won't have any more of it in high school. I hope I can retain all of that information and provide it as evidence for evolution since it doesn't involve fossils or anything more common like that. Thanks for coming down, PZ.
